ROSELLA CALYX FRUIT

(Hibiscus Sabdariffa) 

Grown in plantations in northern Australia without the use of chemicals or pesticides. Wild Rosella can be found in tropical and sub tropical areas of the east coast of Australia.

A new naturalised Australian wild plant has been here for around a thousand years and thought to have been bought over from Indonesia.

The whole plant is edible and the young leaves are great in salads.

The calyx is the hero part of the plant after flowering.  It grows into a fruit like calyx which has a Tart, raspberry flavour which can be used in sweet and savoury dishes as well as in beverages. 

Tastes similar to Rhubarb and Raspberry.  Makes an amazing Tea and colours the water red with its pigments.

How to Use

Cinnamon Myrtle is found in Sub-Tropical areas of NSW and Queensland. The leaves have a spicy mild cinnamon flavour and aroma. The leaves have elemicin (an essential oil) which is also found in nutmeg.

Lemon Myrtle grows in the wet coastal areas of Northern NSW and Southern QLD Australia. It contains high amounts of citral, which accounts for the amazing citrus notes similar to lemon grass.

• Add 1/4-1/2 tsp to: jams, pizza, fish and chips, salt & pepper mix for calamari rings & chicken, syrups, teas, pickles, sweets, butters, cakes, sauces and icecreams/icypoles. River Mint (or Native Mint) grows in all states of Australia except Western Australia, naturally close to rivers and water. Smells like Spearmint and was also used by Indigenous Australians for medicinal purposes.

Our NATIF Rivermint powder is grown by an Indigenous community in Southern Australia.  We are working together to help build supply and demand to support their vision into the future.
