Health Benefits of Muntries


Muntries (also called Emu Apple), fruit in summertime in Southern parts of Australia.  They not only taste great but they have a perfumed aroma.  They taste like spicy apples and juniper berries.  

They were an important food source for Indigenous people, who dried them and them baked into cakes and also traded amongst themselves for other things they needed.

They contain calcium, magnesium, iron, potassium, sodium and fibre.  Muntries also contain 2x the amount of phenolic compounds (antioxidants) over Blueberries.

Mix them into fruit salads, into healthy desserts (similar to sultanas) or enjoy them just as they are (my preference).
